Don't play a dungeon run on a small screen, like my laptop. The screen was so crowded that I couldn't see around my Felguard minion. I couldn't tell where the bad guys were. Just too much going on ... and I decided to bail. Apologized to the party, but I was less than useless. They seemed to be doing OK by themselves, so, even though I broke WoW etiquette, I felt better bailing than weighing them down.
Did I do right?
You probably made the right decisions to leave the party rather than perform in a sub-par fashion.
ReplyDeleteHowever there are a host of addons which can make playing on a small screen easy. I can't recommend any right now because all my addon choices were made years ago, but for starters you want:
* Raid UI (even if you don't intend to raid). Sometimes called a unit frames addon
* Chat window addon (remove chrome from the chat window, change font, add/remove channels, etc
* Nameplate addon (puts a more informative nameplate over foes and friends)
* Actionbar addon. Almost a necessity in my mind. Lets you move/resize actionbars or remove them as needed.
I played for a while on a 13" screen at 1440x900 as a healer, tank and damage dealer. Each role required a different profile but each was possible on a tiny screen because I used addons to tailor my UI.
Thanks so much for the info. I have several add-ons on my "big" computer, but not many on my laptop. Will look at these. Especially the nameplate addon. I think that would really help ne sort things out. Love the actionbar addon. Mine really gets in the way now. 'Preciate all the info and help!

ReplyDeleteThat's a nice addon manager, though I never used the free version. For whatever reason they had me slotted as a premium user. The only feature in the premium version which would be of interest to you would be the one-click update. But you can definitely live without it if you have fewer than 20 addons.
I trust that client to not do anything nefarious to your computer and it really removes you from managing individual files.
I use the Curse client on my desktop. Will put it on my laptop tonight
